Children's Librarian Turned Seamstress on a Sustainable Mission
Welcome to Little Castle Designs! LCD is a one-woman business run by me, JoAnna Reeves. I'm a children's librarian and mother of two turned seamstress and small business owner. I've always enjoyed creating, but I rediscovered my passion for sewing when I started making clothes for my own children. In fact, I started sewing so much, opening up a shop seemed like the logical next step. I love making clothes that are simultaneously beautiful, practical, and just a little bit whimsical.
I also believe it is important to teach our children about where our clothing comes from, just like we teach them where their food comes from. I believe in talking with them about how different fibers and materials are made, and their impact on the planet. I use sustainable materials such as organic fabric and recycled thread wherever possible, and believe that handmade clothing promotes a "slow fashion" approach to dressing in a fast fashion world.
Everything in my shop is made with love, care, and a sprinkle of pixie dust. Each item is entirely made by me, and, of course, I absolutely believe there is a perfect book for every outfit.
